Santa Maria la Blanca school of Barcience reopens its doors to Europe thanks to Erasmus+ projects

Between February 17 and 21, ten teachers from Poland, Italy, Greece and Slovenia shared the good practices of their educational centres with the faculty of the Pre-school and Primary school of Barcience, in the province of Toledo. This mobility of teaching staff is part of the “Innovation=Motivation” project, co-financed by the Erasmus + Program of the European Union, in which the Spanish centre acts as coordinator of this international association of schools.

During the stay of the teachers of the partner schools, different training activities have been carried out in the facilities of the local school, in which both the teachers of the visiting European schools, as well as those of the host school, have shared their experiences and learned of good practices of other partners.

This was the fifth mobility carried out by staff of the partner schools, in which primary school students have also participated. The first one was held in the town of Toledo in November 2018. In 2019, several students and teachers met in Greece, Poland and Slovenia in the months of February, May and September, respectively. On this occasion, the participating teachers have developed training activities related to the introduction of programming and computer language in daily teaching practice.

On the other hand, the visiting European faculty has had the opportunity to visit various corners of the province of Toledo, such as the capital itself, where they have visited different historical monuments, or the canyons of Burujón, a town near the host educational school.

The aforementioned Strategic School Exchange Association project was one of 173 approved nationally by the Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education (SEPIE) in the 2018 call. The Barcience school had previously worked with partner schools through of different innovation projects in the eTwinning online platform, although this time the collaboration is crossing virtual borders. The purpose of this project is to implement innovative practices related to Information and Communication Technologies, prevent school failure and dropout and promote the acquisition of skills and competencies.

The next meeting, which will be attended by two of the teachers of the CEIP Santa María la Blanca, along with three students of 5th and 6th grade, will be held in the Italian town of Montefiascone in May. This will be the last of the mobilities offered by this project, which will close in August this year with the preparation of the final report in which all the activities carried out to date will be evaluated, reflecting the great advances observed so far.
